Lab/Shul,

I saw a leaf today spiraling down, elegantly, in slow motion to the ground. A moment of awe. Change is in the air. A new season is upon us…almost. We’ve still got Labor Day!

It’s just about that time in our sacred cycle to delve back into the land of the soul and the journey of reflection. That’s why each year I Prepent: my annual 40 day challenge to tune out the clutter and tune in to what matters most. Beginning THIS FRIDAY and leading into Yom Kippur I’ll offer 40 daily interactive reflections to help you wrap up 5779 and get ready for 5780.

You’re all invited. Ready? Let’s go.

How To Join The Journey:

+ Follow me on Instagram or Facebook

+ Use #EverydayAwe and tag @labshul in your posts

+ No social media? No problem! You can visit my profile to view all the Prepent posts at any time, no sign up necessary.

This year’s Prepent is about the art of finding daily awe and its power to transform our lives. Together we’ll appreciate ordinary and extraordinary moments that kindle our awesome and light us up into a new year of our best selves. Awe leads to love, love opens presence, and presence is the seed of change. Even a falling leaf can be an invitation for reflection and growth.

Join the challenge: once a day find something in your life that sparks awe – big or small, in the moment or in your memory, inspired by my musings – and then share the best of what you discover using #EverydayAwe to inspire others. We’ll be collecting all the images you post and projecting them on the grand walls of Hammerstein Ballroom throughout the High Holy Days.

Wishing us all calm blessed last days of summer, a kind transition into fall and falling leaves of awe.

– Rabbi Amichai
