My two young sons remind me of the power behind one small word: Why. “Abba- why
is the sky blue? Why does it get dark so early?”
Why’s are the source of our whysdom, unsettlers and upenders of the status quos,
protesters who refuse to live on surfaces. Why’s disclose our deepest motivations.
So, why do we light Hanukkah candles? Sure, we are told the few Jews defeated the
many Greeks (probably historically inaccurate). Great lesson. Underdogs upset
favorites….
