For me (and many others), Purim was the last big in-person event that I participated in before things shut down in New York. While we are a few weeks away from the year anniversary of things closing in New York, Purim is for me the beginning of an extended anniversary and a time to reckon with the past year of our lives. In a moment where I’m grappling with a year of isolation, it feels more important than ever to connect with community and to strengthen communities of care.
In light of that, I am excited that we are matching Lab/Partners for mishloach manot sharing this year. Keep an eye out for an email containing contact information with your match. There are multiple options for participating:
- Call your match and let them know that you’re thinking of them.
- Make a homemade care package to mail to your match. Traditionally mishloach manot include at least two “portions” of food types such as a fruit and a baked good, but feel free to be creative!
- Support Hetrick Martin Institute by purchasing an item on this registry (created by Lab/Shul’s Raising The Bar students!) in honor of your match.
- Support a small business! Here are 16 businesses that can deliver mishloach manot by 2/25.
