Death Over Dinner: In the Sukkah
Thursday, October 17th, 2024

Grief and loss are an inextricable part of our individual and collective lives. Death Over Dinner is an invitation to address the basic fact that we are all, at some point, going to die, and to discuss it across the table–a place where we can break bread and create connections.
The holiday of Sukkot invites us to gather in an intentional space and mark the passage of time. Together we will eat in the Sukkah while taking part in a facilitated conversation that gently guides us through questions around the end of life.
This event will include a delicious vegetarian** dinner along with an opportunity to discuss essential questions, and consider how to live well in the face of mortality. We will hold an exploration of accessible Jewish texts to prompt questions and discussions about quality of life, decision-making, and communicating wishes with loved ones.
Death Over Dinner: In the Sukkah will be facilitated by Lab/Shul Co-Founder, Ritual Leader, and Associate Director, Naomi Less and is presented in partnership with The Neighborhood
*Brooklyn Address provided upon RSVP
**The dinner is both vegetarian and kosher.
Death Over Dinner: In the Sukkah is presented by Lab/Shul in partnership with The Neighborhood: An Urban Center for Jewish Life as a part of the Sukkot in The Neighborhood festival in Brooklyn. Sukkot in The Neighborhood events take place in an art installation Sukkah created by Ye’ela Wilschanski. Click here to see the full schedule of events.
