Looking for some local Lab/Shul love?

We are thrilled to invite the entire Lab/Shul community for our 2024 Community Retreat in NYC! This multi-generational Shabbaton will include Shabbat rituals, as well as artist-driven programming for the heart, mind and soul. Community members of all ages will have the opportunity to connect with old friends and make new ones; engage in moments of learning, ritual and courageous conversation; immerse in art, theater, music and much, much more.

We are especially excited to share an excerpt from What Happens on Retreat, an original theatrical work by Lab/Shul Associate Clergy Ben Freeman, created as part of his current LABA fellowship. Additionally, we are excited to present a contemporary adaptation of Becoming Israel, Lab/Shul’s original play that intertwines Jewish texts with modern narratives to offer a nuanced exploration of Israel’s history and ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Both works draw inspiration from the biblical story of Jacob wrestling with a mysterious figure through the night, leading to his transformation into “Israel”.

Pricing includes Friday night Community Feast, and all adult and kids programming on Saturday including pescatarian morning nosh, lunch, dinner and snacks. Gluten free and vegan options will be available. (Friday evening’s Sabbath Queen ritual is free and open to the public.)
