Advice From Kermit

Last night, 15 Lab/Shul co-creators answered our first ever Community Call to Action to share their energy, excitement, and exasperation in this moment when our social, environmental, communal and political future feels uncertain.

The resounding answer: connect. Or our sage Kermit the Frog says, “Some day we’ll find it / The rainbow connection / The lovers, the dreamers, and me.”

I saw the power of coming together, of connection, first hand over the weekend with 500+ Muslim and Jewish women gathering for the Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom conference in New Jersey (read my reflections about it here). So here are three opportunities in your backyard, coming up soon:

  • Shabbat AM469e97feb7dd89206b94e55c2e2e71e3 SAT. 12/10 – sing and dream together with me, Shira and a brand new maven inspired by HBO’s Westworld. Don’t forget to bring 60W light-bulbs for the Met Council’s Project Metropair, providing free handyman services to low-income seniors.
  • Race & Us SUN. 12/11 – the first of our four-part series on race, Jewishness, and action.
  • Community Call to Action THURS 12/15 – connect with your community to envision what collective action will look like at Lab/Shul. RSVP Required – only 8 spots left!

By connecting with one another, we remember we are resilient, we are capable, and we are ready to work towards the world we aspire to live in.

See you soon,

Rabbi Kerry and the Lab/Shul Team
