ReCollect Seasonal Kaddish Gathering
Whether experiencing a recent loss, remembering a loved one who passed long ago, or showing up to support community, we will gather each season to acknowledge feelings of loss that can be particularly painful as we anticipate an empty chair at the table. We will share memories and poetry, break bread together, and recite Kaddish for our loved ones – the ancient memorial prayer.
Sacred Grief: Tisha Ba’av
Join Lab/Shul and Temple of the Stranger for a profound experience of grieving in community as we observe the holiest day of mourning on the Jewish calendar, Tisha Ba'av. Using sacred texts and the power of our voices we'll explore the rituals of the mikonenet, the ancient female grief workers of the Jewish tradition. Led by Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie, Rav Jericho Vincent, and Spiritual Leader Shira Kline, featuring special guest Reverend Derrick McQueen.
Tisha B’av: Transforming Pain, Rebuilding Trust with Nitsan Joy Gordon
Nitsan Joy Gordon is coming to NYC and Partners for Progressive Israel is organizing a workshop with her on Tuesday, August 13th. T'ruah - together with Lab/Shul + NY Jewish Agenda - will bring a workshop providing an opportunity to hear about Nitsan's experience and share your own, with an intention of regaining our ability to deeply connect to one another int he midst of this very polarizing time.
