Hineini. Here. I’ve been here, we’ve been here. Our names have been called and we have said we are not turning away.
I am writing to you today as a long-time Lab/Shul Partner, Lab/Shul’s new Director of Social Action, and as one of the co-facilitators of Lab/Shul’s Courageous Conversations, a series we are re-launching to meet the current moment through listening, dialogue, and togetherness.
Since October 7, 2023 Lab/Shul has been holding, listening, wrestling, and asking all the many questions that have been on our collective hearts and minds. We have disagreed, lost faith, found it and wondered how each of us can feel and think the way we do. Together, we remain steadfast in our commitment to the moral principles of Aleinu – to lean in, embrace difficult challenges, and continue moving forward with humanity, love, and an unwavering pursuit of peace and justice.
Much has changed over the course of the 16 months, and perhaps even more in the last few weeks. I personally have wanted and needed to be in conversation with community and friends more than ever before, face to face.
Our next set of Courageous Conversations begins Saturday, February 22, 2025.
We will begin with a beautiful Havdalah ritual which will set the stage for the nurturing, understanding and empathy that shape our collective fabric.
We invite you to join us for our continued series on Saturday March 22, 2025, and Saturday May 17, 2025, as we journey together in collective courage.
Together we will try to parse out the latest news, woes and hopes as the bush burns with urgency and all the while saying we are here. We are still here.
