February 18, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm EST
Sabbath Queen 5782
A monthly ritual circle of live music, mindfulness and poetic intentions welcoming your Sabbath Queen.
Welcome back to Sabbath Queen! Led by the Lab/Shul Ritual Team and beloved collaborators, artists, teachers, healers, and musicians our season of 5782 Sabbath Queens will take place in person across Manhattan and Brooklyn, as well as online.
This month’s Sabbath Queen, is led by Founding Ritual Leader Naomi Less together with beloved friend, Rev. Derrick McQueen (Pastor, St. James Presbyterian Church), guest ritual artist Marques Hollie and Associate Clergy Ben Freeman and Rabbi Noam Lerman. We will be invited to sing and soar by our incredible ritual musicians: Zafer Tawil (violin and kanun), David Meer (bass) and Dan Aran (percussion).
This month we invite in love – not romantic love, as Hallmark wants us to believe, but the kind of love that radically helps to heal. Love as an action, as a verb, as a way of being in deep solidarity with others and with ourselves. bell hooks (may her memory be a blessing), in All About Love, shares, “Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.” Joined by an all-star team of guest ritualists, we will sing, learn, breathe and celebrate Black History Month as we exhale into Sabbath.
Coming in person? Joining virtually? Bring an offering to our Shabbat altar – something that represents deep and radical love you have experienced in the world.
