In Aleinu’s third installment of the Architects of the LGBTQ Movement discussion series, we welcome former and current Executive Directors Richard Burns and Glennda Testone for a discussion on the beginnings of the LGBT Center. From providing the first-ever LGBTQ youth outreach services, to  serving as the birthplace for impactful groups such as GLAAD and ACT UP, New York’s own LGBT Center continues to serve as a nucleus for social change.

ALEINU, the 20s & 30s group at Congregation Beit Simchat Torah, hosts an in-depth look at the fight for civil rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people worldwide in a 2015 discussion series: Architects of the LGBTQ Movement. In this 6-part series we listen as our heroes, trailblazers, and advocates recount the genesis of the modern movement, and also deliver a challenge: for us to envision what LGBTQ identity and activism will mean in the future.  We hope you will join us for this incredible opportunity to learn from the architects of the LGBTQ movement.
