L’CHAYIM/TO LIFE Climbing the Tree of Life

Derekh Torah provides an introduction to Judaism for adults, providing a framework for exploration of meaningful Jewishness in the 21st Century. This 18 week course with Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie and the 92 St Y explores Judaism’s core concepts, ethical values, rituals, spiritual practices, history, literature, and life-cycle and calendar events, making meaning relevant to our contemporary needs and realities.

Today’s session focuses on starting the journey by celebrating (belated) Tu Bishvat, The New Year of Trees. This session will include a round of personal introductions and setting of intentions, as well as an introduction to the Jewish calendar, its history and evolution.
