Lab/Shul Gala 2015

  • City Winery - 155 Varick Street, NY 10009

gala 1On June 16, the Lab/Shul community will celebrate its second year with a superstar Gala, back at City Winery. In the past year we’ve welcomed hundreds of new seekers at dozens of programs for all ages and interests, as we keep on co-creating an everybody-friendly, artist driven, sustainable and inspiring congregation for the 21st Century.

There’s much to celebrate.

Among the friends who’ve become part of our family is Israeli superstar David Broza, considered one of the most dynamic and vibrant performers in the singer/songwriter world. Together with his wife – accomplished designer Nili Lotan – and their family, David has become an integral member of our community, taking the stage as a member of our High Holy Days Ritual Team. With his powerful voice, stirring strings and poetic prayers, David has been inspiring us to stand up taller for all that is good in the world and all that can be better.

Broza does not just sing about peace – he makes it happen. For decades he has promoted peace in the Middle East and other parts of the world through his music and his activism.  In 2014 he released ‘East Jerusalem-West Jerusalem’ a remarkable new album and a documentary film celebrating shared music, dialogue and co-creating community between the people of Israel and Palestine.

With gratitude and with admiration, the Lab/Shul Community honors David Broza, a visionary humanitarian, a beloved global artist and a good local friend with our Peacemaker Award, in recognition of his passionate dedication to coexistence, compassion, and peace.

Join us on June 16 at City Winery for a feast, an all-star concert, a candle-lighting for peace ritual, a silent auction, an opportunity to honor an icon and stand up for peace.
