Primary elections are around the corner in New York City, and there are a lot of changes this year! Join Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie and Lab/Shul Partner Holly Pretsky, in conversation with Jeff Cotlin of City and State and Olivia Lapeyrolerie of SKDK, as they explore changes to this year’s elections, ranked choice voting, and making an educated choice as a voter.
Holly Pretsky is a Lab/shul partner and deputy managing editor at City & State NY. Originally from Colorado, she’s reported from Colorado Springs, Miami, Washington D.C. and Martha’s Vineyard and now lives in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
Olivia Lapeyrolerie is a seasoned media strategist with experience in government relations, campaigns and crisis communications.Prior to joining SKDK as a Vice President, Olivia served as Mayor de Blasio’s First Deputy Press Secretary where she developed and implemented communications strategies for major policy and personnel announcements. Olivia received her Master’s Degree in Modern History from the University of St Andrews in Scotland. She is a published author and poet based in Brooklyn.
Jeff Coltin is a senior reporter at City & State NY, who writes stories and develops other content for the magazine, with a particular focus on New York City. He’s also writes the popular Campaign Confidential newsletter, focusing on the 2021 elections. Jeff previously worked at NY1 and at Bronx-based public radio station WFUV. Jeff graduated in 2015 from Fordham University, where he studied political science, theology and Italian food. Born and raised in Phoenix, Jeff now lives on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
