ReCollect/Yizkor: A Seasonal Kaddish Gathering
January 24, 2024
6:45pm ET in Brooklyn
7pm ET Online
As we watch 2023 growing more distant in the rear view mirror, we may be present with the pain of entering a new year without our loved ones. January (Tevet – Shevat, 5784) on the Jewish calendar, brings the anticipation of seeds dormant underground about to break through to the surface – Tu Bshvat (Jan 24-25, 2024). Perhaps so too are the seeds of our own healing.
Lab/Shul’s ReCollect/Yizkor is a seasonal gathering to remember our loved ones, share stories, lift memory, and say Kaddish, the ancient memorial prayer, together. Throughout the year, ReCollect meets near or on the times of memory (Yizkor) on the Jewish calendar (Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Passover and Shavuot).
Our Winter 2024 session of ReCollect will be uniquely meaningful as we continue to grapple with the devastation and loss in Israel, Palestine, Gaza and beyond. Whether experiencing a recent loss, remembering a loved one who passed away long ago, or showing up in support of community, we gather to acknowledge feelings of loss that can be particularly painful as we anticipate an empty chair at our tables and holes in our hearts.
ReCollect/Yizkor will take place simultaneously in person and online. Exact location provided upon registration (Brooklyn)
