Sabbath Queer : No Justice No Pride
June 26, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm EDT
| FreeSabbath Queer: No Justice No Pride
We’re bringing spiritual intimacy to social distancing. A ritual circle of live music, mindfulness and poetic intentions welcoming your Sabbath Queer. This month we’re celebrating Pride, honoring the black and trans activists who made Pride possible, recharging ourselves for continued work towards racial justice, and filling ourselves with bold, beautiful love.
We’re joined by special guest Rabbi Benay Lappe, the founder and Rosh Yeshiva of SVARA: a traditionally radical yeshiva. She is an award-winning Talmud educator, specializing in the application of queer theory to Talmud study. She received the Covenant Award in 2016, considered the highest honor in Jewish education, and has been named in many lists of the most influential Jewish leaders of our time. She has rabbinic ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary.
