“There is no such thing as a state of being a grandparent; rather there is a process, an experience of grandparenting that is not static.
When we become a grandparent, we set the process in motion.”
— Dr. Marshall Duke
How do our identities shift as we age and, especially, when we become grandparents? How can we find meaning and mark the ongoing process of grandparenthood with creativity and intention?
In a world where our Jewish identities might be a given and our grandchildren’s might not, we have choices to make about our legacies: what we hand down, how we do it, and what we hope to accomplish by doing so.
Jewish Grandparents Network and Lab/Shul invite you to a Zoom gathering to explore which elements of our Jewish identities matter most to us and how we might model these Jewish jewels for our grandchildren.
Through guided reflection, conversation, and Lab/Shul’s signature everybody-friendly, God-optional approach to sacred text and ritual, we will offer a framework for you to:
- Identify key Jewish values and actions in your own life.
- Connect your personal stories with ancestral texts.
- Prioritize what you feel is most important to pass down to your grandchildren.
The program will be led by Lab/Shul’s:
Naomi Less, Co-Founder, Ritual Leader, Associate Director, and B Mitzvah Education and Ritual Director
Ben Freeman, Associate Clergy
