Tisha B’Av of Teshuva: Mourning the Destruction of Black Lives

Concluding our Rise from Rubble event, we’re joining our Partners at Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (JFREJ) for a 24-hour mourning of the destruction of Black lives & collective cry to the Heavens to end systemic racism.

We’ll gather first on the evening of Wednesday from 7:45pm-9:30pm for the 39th day of crying out to the heavens to end systemic racism followed by a public chanting of the traditional text of mourning, Eicha (How) or “Lamentations,” to mourn the baseless and racist hatred of our society, the ways in which we have strayed from Justice, and the destruction of Black Lives.

We’ll come back together at the end of Tisha B’Av on Thursday from 7pm-8:30pm, for an action for Black Lives, including a teach-in on the Breathe Act and the final cry of 40 Days of Teshuvah. Break fast to follow with modest refreshments.
