עֵ֤ת לִבְכּוֹת֙ – וְעֵ֣ת לִשְׂח֔וֹק – עֵ֥ת סְפ֖וֹד – וְעֵ֥ת רְקֽוֹד׃
“A time for weeping and a time for laughing,
A time for wailing and a time for dancing”
Eccl. 3:4
Join us, all ages, to wrap up the High Holy Days with sacred gathering that weaves Simchat Torah and Shabbat with a ritual of healing, hope and peace.
We will cast a circle of sacred storytelling and live music, marking endings and beginnings, face to face.
The festive holiday of Simchat Torah is now forever marked with the tragedy of October 7th and the unimaginable death and destruction of this past year. On this day we’ll gather to gain strength from our ancestral wisdom and from each other as we unscroll the Torah to begin our sacred story again, with new intentions, lighting candles and welcoming Shabbat, celebrating life, choosing peace for all.
We invite you to stay after the ritual for DIY Shabbat dinner/vegetarian potluck.
Ritual led by Rabbi Amichai, Naomi Less and Ben Freeman along with Rabbi Annie Lewis, Rabbi Yosef Goldman, Rabbi Annie Lewis, Miriam Rubin, Rav Kohenet Jill Hammer, Kohenet Shoshana Jedwab, Martine Handelman Duffy, and Lab/Shul Kids Educator Kohenet Stephanie Serach Guedalia.
All ages, all faiths. Open, free and accessible to all.
This event is in partnership with The Neighborhood: An Urban Center for Jewish Life.
