Fired Up, Ready to Go

Dear Lab/Shul,

It’s post-election. Pre-hanukkah. And it’s time to light it up.

‘Tis is the season for organizing. And here’s how we, at Lab/Shul, get organized:

  • communicate
  • educate
  • activate

Communicate: on Dec. 5th and 15th, we convene by phone and video conference for Lab/Shul’s Community Call to Action. Together, we’ll discuss what’s happening in the streets, in the offices of our community partners, and begin to envision what just action will look like for our Lab/Shul community. RSVP here for both video calls.

Educate: on Dec. 11th, from 2-5pm, at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, we begin our Race & Us four-part workshop series in partnership with Jews for Racial and Economic Justice, the Jewish Multiracial Network, and Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice. Workshops begin Dec. 11th with Jewishness and Race: Who Are We, Part 1, and continue on Feb. 12th, April 2nd, and June 11th. Details and RSVP here.

Activate: on Jan 18th, from 6:30-8:30pm, at the Lab/Shul office, we’ll practice the fundamentals of community organizing and brainstorm how our community can organize towards one another and towards justice. RSVP here.

As Lab/Shul’s new resident rabbi, I’m here to organize with you towards the world we want to live in, where truth and empathy, and peace and justice are lived and everyday experiences. Together, we can bring light to the shadows and uncertainties of our shifting political climate.

Stay tuned for upcoming events, including Hanukkah gatherings with friends in faith to celebrate community, solidarity, hope, and light.

Fired Up,

Rabbi Kerry and the Lab/Shul Team
