Here,
I am.
One year later, once again approaching Passover.
Each year we are called to gather and act as if we ourSelves are being Liberated.
I am honored to be one of the ritualists at this year’s Freedom Feast. Shira Kline and I have enjoyed Play-Full brainstorms, as we adventured into Liberation’s exploration. We laughed and got serious, asking ourSelves: Can we Liberate each Other?
The answer is not One or the Other. There are those who leave doors open behind them and those that walk through them. There are Ones who seek Liberation and journey with you in its pursuit. We help our fellows climb this mountain with us and are helped by them in turn. We free each other by sharing our wisdom and opening to Feedback that comes from Love. Together we Grow.
And yet, sometimes we choose not to walk through the door. Perhaps in Fear of the unknown. We stand arrested in our development, stuck in our ways. Unable to Flow with ourSelves and those around us. In homage to our Mother RuPaul, I ask: How you going to Free someone else if they can’t Free themselves? Lincoln did not Liberate us, we The People did.
Only we can choose to walk through the door. We can choose to leave it open behind us. We have no control over the Other or their journey, nor do we want that because there is no Liberation in control.
I invite you to join us this Passover on Wednesday, April 5th for Freedom Feast as we explore what it means to be Liberated and look at the question of liberating each Other. Together with our partners in faith we at Lab/Shul are honored to go on this adventure and hope to share the journey with you. Click here to reserve your seat.
May this holiday free us from the mud and muck of White-Supremacy culture
and towards Liberation. May we
not be Stuck. May we Flow
with Freedom.
Kindly,
Luis Burgos
