Dear Lab/Shul,

This Thursday night the Jewish world meets up again at Sinai – the holiday of Shavuot takes us from liberation to revelation. The Lab/Shul team invites you for a full night of ritual, conversations and deep learning. Join us at Shavuot Across Brooklyn on Thursday, May 25th at Congregation Beth Elohim.

Rabbi Amichai, Shira and Naomi will be part of the opening ritual, and both Shira and Naomi are teaming up with artists and local leaders to reveal secrets and dreams. Plus, Rabbi Amichai is leading a four session track linking current events in Israel with the lesser known Jewish Game of Thrones in the Books of Kings – this will be familiar for those of you following Below the Bible Belt or have been wanting to.

Whether you pop in for a session or stick around to see the sun rise, be sure to check out the sessions below featuring the Lab/Shul ritual team. Ready for Revelation?

Check it out:

10:15 PM // Commandment 5: Honor Your Parents – Building Legacy/Breaking Cycles

Naomi Less + Basya Schechter

Two teachers, spiritual leaders, musicians and moms of young children explore the complexity of the 5th commandment through music, text, commentary and sacred conversation. Come and find out what is revealed in your heart, mind and spirit.

10:15pm-2:15am // Israel vs. Judah: Then, Now, Next?

Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie

Can a lesser known chapter from Jewish history help repair the widening rupture in Israel and throughout the Jewish world with a model for co-existence? Join Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie for 4 interactive study sessions (stand-alone or consecutive) weaving biblical scholarship, archeology, and politics to explore what the hidden history of the divided Jewish kingdom can teach us about our present and future realities. No prior knowledge needed.

11:20 PM // Dream Climbing through אמת וש׳רה (emet v’shira / truth and song)

Shira Kline & Ari Monts

Waking dreams, Conscious dreams, Revelations? Ari and Shira offer text and song to practice dreaming into revelation. Join us to blur the lines between mental practices, body practices, and dream prescriptions. An immersive ritual for revelation to learn from our Bodies, Torah, and Tony Kushner.

On the second day of Shavuot, we will also be offering a seasonal Yizkor Memorial gathering, ReCollect, online, on Saturday, May 27th. Join Naomi Less + the Kaddish Club to share memories and poetry, break bread together, and recite Kaddish for our loved ones – the ancient memorial prayer. Whether experiencing a recent loss, remembering a loved one who passed away long ago, or showing up to support the community all are welcome in this caring circle. Sign up here.
