Welcome to Lab/Shul, an artist-driven, everybody-friendly, God-optional, pop up, experimental community for sacred Jewish gatherings based in NYC and reaching the world.

January: Activate Justice, Cultivate Joy

2016 ended with a crash. Literally. Our website crashed possibly due to an unsuccessful hack (Russia?), right on time for your generous year end giving. Read more about it here, and maybe start your year fresh with a gift that will help us build a strong new website? Thanks!

The year also ended Lab/Shul’s professional relationship with James Moché, who joined us as COO in July. We wish James and his family the best for the future. Stay tuned for our new leadership search coming very soon.

2017 is starting with a ton of good reasons to come together and build a stronger community:

MLK Weekend! Family friendly interfaith worship and learning opportunities with our friends at St. James Presbyterian Church, both at our Shabbat AM (UWS) and their Sunday Worship (Harlem) + service opportunities for teens and the rest of us.

Activate! Rabbi Kerry kicks off our series of community organizing trainings and brainstorms January 18th.

Cultivate! Rise to the Sabbath Queen January 20th, the night America welcomes a new president, then march with us the next day for freedom, dignity and justice for all.

And so much more, of course. Scroll down or check the calendar for details.

Wishing us all a year of sacred gatherings towards freedom, justice and joy – for all.

– The Lab/Shul Team
