Welcome to Lab/Shul, an artist-driven, everybody-friendly, God-optional, pop up, experimental community for sacred Jewish gatherings based in NYC and reaching the world.

New Board Chair for Lab/Shul announced at SPIN Event!

We ended Chanukah with igniting change:  Handing over of the Shamash – to our new chair of the board!
At our SPIN Speakeasy on night #8 at the Soho ArtHouse Storahtelling Lab/Shul’s chair  Ora Ramat and vice-chair Sarah Sokolic lit the first candle and handed the torch over to Michael Dorf, our new chair.

Michael spoke just before lighting the second candle: “Holding the candle of responsibility to help spread the light of Lab/Shul in world with so much darkness in it is truly an honor. I am very excited to help lead this vibrant community.  There is tremendous opportunity to grow – and we’re fired up!”

Eight more old and new Lab/Shul friends lit candles with intentions for spreading more light on specific spots of darkness in our lives. Naomi and Shira led us in singing, DJ Busquelo spun, food & wine was great, and a few of us even got a new spin on how and why to spin a dreidel with Amichai.  There was indeed not a single latke.

Thank you to all our fearless leaders, co-visionaries and volunteers -past, present and future –  translating the Lab/Shul dream into reality.
