How can Jewish spiritual practices be integrated into our own efforts for repair and justice?

On Saturday, August 28th Lab/Shul and the JCC Harlem will be holding a screening of 40 Days of Teshuvah followed by a talkback with Yehuda Webster, as part of our contemplative Sit+Sorry Selichot program.

“40 Days of Teshuva” is a film by The Inside Out Wisdom and Action (IOWA) Project and filmmaker Hannah Roodman. The film revolves around summer 2020, when Yehudah Webster and Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (JFREJ) protested for 40 days culminating with Tisha B’Av. This protest came to being after the murder of George Floyd and the racial justice uprising in 2020.

This screening and talkback will close out our Sit + Sorry, Selichot 2021 program, a celebration of song and silence, reflection and conversation. Join us for this contemplative practice, ancient Judaic poetry, and stirring music with special guest musician and song leader Adirchai Haberman-Browns, guest musician Eleonore Weill and guest ritual leader Reverend Derrick McQueen.
