The Shmita-thon is ON

Tonight, from 5:30-9:00pm, a group of us will gather at Lab/Shul’s offices at 125 Maiden Lane for our second annual ‘Shmita-thon.’ We will follow up on pledges that have been made to Lab/Shul over the past few months and reach out to old and new friends with an invitation to continue or begin investing in Lab/Shul’s future.

So – Why ‘Shmita-thon?’
Lab/Shul’s study focus this year is ‘Fallow Lab’ – reclaiming and reinterpreting the ancient sabbatical year of ‘Shmita’ – the seventh year cycle that enabled land to lay fallow, laborers to refresh and financial debts to be forgiven. Back in the day, observance of Shmita required a process of preparation, storage and strategic planning. Lab/Shul’s ‘Shmita-thon’ follows in this fallow-year tradition – creating a new opportunity to gather in resources from our community that will sustain Lab/Shul over the coming year, and beyond.

Lab/Shul sustains our souls, nourishes our lives and helps us connect more deeply with ourselves and with each other. Let’s make sure we are able to continue celebrating, building and sharing the riches of our legacy with more of us, and more often.

See You Tonight,
-The Lab Shul Team
