Welcome to Lab/Shul, an artist-driven, everybody-friendly, God-optional, pop up, experimental community for sacred Jewish gatherings based in NYC and reaching the world.

Talk Today, Scream Tomorrow

Hey Lab/Shul,

Been thinking lately about this profound wisdom from poet Marie Howe:

“Every poem holds the unspeakable inside it. The thing that you can’t really say because it’s too complicated.”

TONIGHT: The unspeakable poetry of prayer. Join me on a backstage tour of Lab/Shul’s original, God-optional, non-gendered, post-binary liturgical translations and the poetry that inspires us at the first of our year-long (free!) series exploring our core values, unique talents, and creative visionsTalk Our Talk: Learning Lounge with Lab/Shul Leadership.
7-9pm @ Lab/Shul HQ

TOMORROW: One year later… Gather publicly with Lab/Shul, Judson Memorial Church, Muslim Community Network, Middle Collegiate Church, and New Sanctuary Movement to recall how we felt the day after last year’s election, and to rejuvenate ourselves with the fire we need to persist, resist, and re:love – Primal Prayer Day: A MultiFaith Gathering to Sing, Scream, and Act.
5:30-6:30pm @ Washington Square Park

And for everyone near and far, you can listen to Rabbi Amichai’s recent musings on the hit podcast “From the Hive” and read his response in Moment Magazine’s symposium “Is Intermarriage Good for the Jews?”

Hope to see you in circles big and small, with words, poetry, song, and silence.
